Mr. Lucky

Mr. Lucky

Was it karma or just Mr. Lucky being Mr. Lucky?

Do you remember Earl J. Hickey?

He was the title character, played by Jason Lee, in the television show "My Name is Earl."

Earl lost a $100,000 lottery ticket when he was hit by a car and then learned of karma while recovering in the hospital. After doing his first good deed, he found missing ticket.

The first time I ever won $1,000 on a scratch-off ticket, I corrected the clerk because she charged me the wrong price (prior to bar codes on the tickets).  I paid the right price and then scratched off the big winner.

Was it karma?

Earl would say so.

Well, Sunday night I was on way home and my son wanted a couple of donuts from the 7-Eleven. I stopped at one store and they did not have any. I was going to forget the donuts, but then I decided to stop at another 7-Eleven and they had donuts.

Then, as I am standing at the counter waiting to pay, a gentleman was trying to buy some ice cream for his pregnant wife and didn't have enough money. So I dug out some change and helped him out.

Then I asked the clerk for a couple of lottery tickets and a $10 Monopoly ticket had a red star stamped on the back.

Several stores, including my favorite 7-Eleven at U.S. Highway 17-92 and Airport Boulevard in Sanford, are giving away a free $2 Monopoly ticket if you get a red star on the back of a Monopoly ticket you buy.

So I got my free ticket and took it home where I scratched it off and won $100.

Was it Karma?

Earl would say so. So does my son.
