Christmas Eve tickets win Lotto and Powerball jackpots

Bah humbug!

The Grinch has stolen our lottery jackpots.

Both the Powerball and Florida Lotto jackpots were won in Christmas Eve drawings.

First, a Maryland ticket won the $128.8 million Powerball jackpot.

Then, minutes later, up popped the six numbers 54-year-old Richard McMullen of Tallahassee has been playing for about 10 years.

McMullen didn’t have to drive far to claim his $50 million jackpot at Florida Lottery headquarters.

The Tallahassee Circle K where he bought the ticket receive3d $150,000 for selling it.

It was the 1,000th jackpot-winning ticket since the Lotto began in April 1988.

McMullen told Lottery officials he has always played the Lotto with the understanding that any jackpot winnings would be shared among his family.

"This is definitely our most memorable Christmas ever," McMullen said.

So now we’re back to small potatoes for Wednesday night: a $20 million Powerball jackpot and a $2 million Lotto prize.
