Doublecheck your Fantasy 5 numbers from Saturday!

Posted: 22 Oct 2011 09:11 PM PDT

If you know someone who plays the Florida Fantasy 5, send this to them right away.

The state’s website listed a WRONG NUMBER for Saturday’s Fantasy 5 drawing.

The correct winning numbers were: 6-8-14-25-26.

But the state’s website, immediately after the drawing, incorrectly posted that one of the numbers was 13, rather than the correct number, which is 14.

Unfortunately, state lottery officials didn’t announce the mistake or call attention to it. I happened to have seen part of the drawing live and had realized the numbers the state posted online were wrong.

But the drawing happens right on deadline for newspapers across the state, so the odds are many of them printed the first batch of numbers the state listed.

The incorrect numbers were posted at the state lottery’s official website about 11:20 p.m., and the corrected numbers didn’t show up until about 30 minutes later.

Printed newspapers aren’t the only places you are likely to find the wrong numbers. Websites that list the lottery numbers most likely immediately posted their numbers based on the state’s original posting — which was also transmitted by The Associated Press. At this hour, the AP has not moved a correction. And with the state not calling any attention to its error, it’s a good bet many of those websites will continue to list the wrong winning numbers for Fantasy 5.

Bottom line: Doublecheck your numbers and alert any friends and family who might have played the Saturday drawing that they should verify their numbers too.
