$1 tickets are no-shows in Monopoly second-chance drawing

The Florida Lottery’s initial second-chance drawing for losing Monopoly scratch-off tickets last week shows you are better off playing high-price tickets if you want to win.

When you enter a ticket, you can play a game or just enter the ticket numbers and you are awarded chances in the drawing.

You get 1 to 4 points for $1 tickets, 4 to 14 points for $2 tickets, 15 to 35 points for $5 tickets, 40 to 80 points for $10 tickets and 100 to 180 points for $20 tickets.

Not a single $1 ticket won a prize in the first drawing and just four $2 tickets won. An old-style $2 ticket won $200 and a Monopoly game, while three new-style $2 tickets won a Monopoly game.

On the other hand, $20 tickets won 20 of the 49 total prizes, including the grand prize of $10,000 and a Monopoly game.

The three second-level prizes of a trip and $1,000 were won by a new $10 ticket, a new $5 ticket and an old $5 ticket.

It’s the same amount of work for players to enter a $1 ticket as a $20 ticket.

The next drawing is Aug. 10 for tickets entered by midnight Aug. 9.
