Here’s the best piece of advice I can give you for winning a prize in the Florida Lottery’s college football promotion: Become a fan of Florida A&M University, Florida Atlantic University or Florida International University.

The first drawing was held last week and 10 prizes were awarded for each of eight participating universities. There were 48,225 vouchers entered and 22,376 were entered for University of Florida prizes. That’s more than double the 9,079 for Florida State University.

Miami was next with 7,993, followed by the University of South Florida with 3,712 and the University of Central Florida with 2,619.

You had a better than 1 in 100 chance of winning with the other schools. There were 991 entries for Florida Atlantic, 760 for Florida International and 695 for FAMU.

Each time you spend $10 or more for a Florida Lotto ticket you get a voucher to enter online. The next drawing is Sept. 29.
